A ROOM OF ONE'S OWN
Guided by Abhijit KR
A PROGRAM AND PUBLICATION TO PROMOTE WOMEN IN LITERATURE
The idea that the reasons for a lack of women writers (mostly in fiction) in the past stems from a lack of talent or a dearth of concrete thoughts worthy of paper has long been around. However, it was most possibly circumstance and the deep hold over a woman’s role in society that prevented them from being able to write. As Virginia Woolf’s extended essay titled ‘A Room of One’s Own’ illustrates, “a woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction”. The residency aims to provide this space and platform for female voices.
